SOLUTION
As part of the project, EXFOUR’s existing private cloud infrastructure was successfully migrated from a third-party provider to the MTF Business Cloud. A new, dedicated domain (EXFOUR.internal) was set up, and all application servers, file server data and email services were transferred to the new environment. Users now work on the basis of a VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) concept with dedicated Windows 11 desktops operated in the private cloud. This provides employees with a high-performance, stable and location-independent working environment. The local infrastructure was also modernised: the networks for office and telephony were rebuilt. A modern firewall is used for segmentation both locally and in the private cloud. The existing client hardware – a mix of thin and fat clients, Linux-based – could continue to be used. Furthermore, a conscious decision was made not to use Microsoft 365 and Teams. Instead, a traditional Office suite is used, which meets the security and data protection requirements of the public sector. The internal IT team was given greater autonomy through higher administrative rights and direct access to virtual resources in the new environment.
