Workplace Lifecycle Management: from roll-out to support

CHALLENGE

The City of Chur’s IT department had previously procured laptops, desktop computers, monitors, docking stations and peripherals through an annual tender process. This process regularly involved significant administrative effort in terms of planning, tendering and procurement. To reduce this workload and standardise workplace hardware in the long term, the City of Chur’s IT department opted for a multi-year tender for the first time.

The aim was to find a partner who could supply workplace hardware for the administration, schools and affiliated municipalities over a period of up to seven years. A key requirement was close integration with the existing client management solution (MECM/Intune), so that processes such as BIOS updates and driver management, as well as security features such as Windows Hello and Credential Guard, could be managed centrally.

SOLUTION

MTF implemented a standardised workplace concept using Lenovo hardware for the City of Chur’s IT department. The solution comprises laptops in various performance categories, convertible devices, monitors, docking stations and peripherals such as keyboards, mice and webcams. A key component was industrial staging. All devices were pre-configured, integrated into the existing MECM/Intune environment and set up in accordance with the defined security and operational guidelines. This included BIOS configurations, firmware and driver versions, the deployment of Windows 11, and the activation of modern security features such as Windows Hello and Credential Guard. Delivery and commissioning took place directly at the point of use in the various local authorities. In addition, MTF provides support and repair services, spare parts management and the coordinated handling of warranty claims throughout the entire contract period.
