Secure IT with a private cloud and IT operations

The Solothurn Centre Oberwald (SZO) supports people with disabilities at several locations across the canton of Solothurn. To improve IT availability, security and operations in the long term, MTF Solutions migrated the existing on-premises infrastructure to the MTF Private Cloud. The solution was supplemented by a virtual client infrastructure, modern endpoint management and additional security services.

Highlights

  • Migration of the on-premises infrastructure to the MTF Private Cloud
  • Modern VDI environment with Horizon for flexible workstations
  • Centralised endpoint management with Microsoft Intune and Autopilot
  • Increased system availability and redundancy
  • Enhanced security through standardised policies and SOC services
  • Reduced operational overhead for the in-house IT team
“The outsourcing of our IT infrastructure was a resounding success. The collaboration with MTF went exceptionally well from planning right through to implementation, despite our limited staff resources. Thanks to their technical expertise, transparent communication and strong focus on service, we have been able to modernise our IT systems and sustainably improve operational reliability.”

Stable working environment across six sites

CHALLENGE

The SZO originally operated its IT infrastructure using its own on-premises hardware. This solution offered only limited availability and redundancy. Furthermore, the end devices were not managed centrally, which meant that security policies, updates and device checks could not be implemented effectively.

With increasing demands for digitalisation, security and flexibility, a new solution became necessary. The aim was to create a modern, secure and scalable IT infrastructure with high availability, centrally managed end devices and reduced operational overhead. The outdated on-premises environment and the lack of endpoint management were therefore to be replaced by a cloud-based solution with centralised management and enhanced security services.

SOLUTION

MTF supported the Oberwald Centre in Solothurn with the comprehensive modernisation of its IT infrastructure. The existing on-premises environment was migrated to the MTF Private Cloud, thereby transitioning it to a highly available, scalable and professionally managed platform. A virtual client infrastructure using Horizon VDI was implemented for the workstations. A modern endpoint management system was also introduced using Microsoft Intune and Autopilot. This enables end devices to be managed centrally, provisioned automatically and operated in accordance with standardised security policies. In addition, fat clients are used for workstations with higher performance requirements. Furthermore, MTF manages the operation of the infrastructure and supports the SZO with enhanced security services, including a SOC. The result is a stable, secure and future-proof IT environment that reduces internal operational costs and provides staff with a modern working environment.
