CROSS-LOCATION MONITOR LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT

Zurich's civil and criminal courts, with the High Court as the highest cantonal court, stand for the highest level of professionalism, standardised jurisdiction and effective court administration. With 18 locations and over 1,350 workstations, the courts depend on offering their employees modern and effective workplaces. MTF provided a seamless modernisation of the monitor infrastructure accompanied by comprehensive support over the next few years, while the old equipment was recycled in an environmentally friendly way.

Highlights

  • Modernisation of the workstations with 38‘’ EIZO monitors
  • Comprehensive customer support through central project management and on-site contacts

EFFICIENT ROLL-OUT ACROSS SEVERAL LOCATIONS

CHALLENGE

Zurich's civil and criminal courts have around 1,350 workstations spread across 18 locations in the canton of Zurich. The existing workstations - consisting of one or, in exceptional cases, two monitors - no longer met current ergonomic, technical and ecological standards, as the equipment used had reached the end of its life cycle. In order to minimise disruption to daily operations, the transition from the old to the new equipment had to be as seamless as possible. This required careful preparation, a high degree of mutual coordination and a quick and precise replacement of the devices. The new screens were also to be protected by a 5-year on-site maintenance contract that guaranteed a replacement delivery within 24 hours. In addition, the old screens were to be reused in the interests of sustainability.

SOLUTION

To meet the requirements, MTF provided a cost-effective solution with a comprehensive service that enabled the Zurich civil and criminal courts to seamlessly update their monitor infrastructure. MTF worked closely with the High Court's ICT team to plan a precise rollout. The timely inventory of the 1,400 monitors as well as the delivery and installation of the screens in the 18 locations, which were adapted to the individual requirements and circumstances, contributed significantly to the modernisation of the workplaces in a short space of time. The approximately 1,200 old screens were taken back and refurbished for reuse. The 240 pallets and around 1.4 km of screen packaging (3.8 tonnes of cardboard and 1.8 tonnes of polystyrene) were disposed of professionally. The support concept enables a defective screen to be replaced quickly within 24 hours over the next five years.

Zurich civil and criminal courts

The twelve district courts in the Canton of Zurich, together with the High Court, form the Zurich civil and criminal courts. They deal with all civil and criminal proceedings in the first and second instance that have not already been finally adjudicated by the public prosecutor's offices.
